Explore six student examples across reading, phonics, writing, and mathematics.
01 · Multiplication gains
Six weeks of targeted practice
Starting point: Proficient in ×0, ×1, and ×2 multiplication facts.
Progress: The August 2025 update records passing ×3 through ×12 fact sets, plus independent multi-digit subtraction and multiplication.
Mixed facts were still difficult within the three-minute limit.
02 · More accurate decoding
73% → 93% accuracy
June–September 2024: CVC word-reading accuracy rose from 11/15 to 14/15 words correct, a gain of 20 percentage points in approximately three months. Instructional reading moved from level N to level S.
CVC means consonant-vowel-consonant words. Percentages are rounded.
03 · Stronger comprehension
Independent reading: M → R
October–late 2024: Independent reading moved from level M to level R, with 99% accuracy and strong comprehension at follow-up. A December persuasive essay was judged above grade-level standards.
The follow-up report includes November and December work; the exact reading reassessment date needs confirmation.
04 · Building foundational skills
Instructional reading: L → N
June–November 2024: Instructional reading moved from level L to level N. By November, level M was independent. The report also records proficiency in variant vowels and low-frequency spellings.
Multisyllabic words remained a focus. Increased writing confidence was a teacher observation.
05 · A reading trajectory
Instructional reading: I → L → N
February–August 2024: Instructional reading progressed from I in February to L in March and N in August. In November, a second level N passage was read independently at 99% accuracy.
Another November passage remained instructional at N. Performance varied by text.
06 · Growth across subjects
Reading and mathematics
December 2023–June 2024: Reading moved from independent M to instructional Q at 95% accuracy. The June report also records understanding of all third-grade math standards.
Independent and instructional reading categories differ. The math finding is a teacher judgment without paired benchmark totals.
